Unique World Robotics makes UAE proud at NASA Space Apps Challenge
Date: Dubai, UAE, December 09, 2022
Unique World Robotics (UWR) – a Dubai-based robotics training institute, has proven their sheer dominance in International Competition/Hackathon Training again, going from a single team back in 2021, they trained a total of 11 teams (8 from UAE & 3 from India) from UAE & India in 2022 and won 7 awards including 5 Global Nominations (4 from UAE & 1 from India). The most exciting and proud achievement is that one of their winning teams from Sharjah has been chosen as the Global Finalist, the only team from UAE that managed to reach the Finals. From India, the student team from their first Robotics Lab through students helping students initiative has won ‘Global Nomination’ from Kerala becoming the only school team to get recognized in 2022.
The students did extensive research on the challenges and data provided by NASA with the mentorship from our trainers. They were also provided with the opportunity to interview space scientists, astro physicists and field experts to clarify their queries. The UWR trainers were very keen to observe each and every moment of their journey to guide them properly to focus on the challenge, to make sure the journey is memorable, inspiring and successful.
The Global Finalist team will be reviewed by an executive committee from NASA and partner space agencies. These judges are leaders and executives at the agencies with a variety of subject matter expertise. Each Global Finalist project will be evaluated by each executive judge. This committee will nominate teams for one of 10 Global Awards. The winning submission for each of the categories above will be known as the “Global Winners.” Global Winners will be announced via Space Apps social media and appear on the Space Apps website.
NASA International Space Apps Challenge which began a decade ago in 2012, has now become the largest annual space & science global hackathon in the world. The major motive of the competition is to raise awareness of NASA data around the world and to encourage growth and diversity in the next generation of scientists, technologists, designers, engineers, and artists.
This year’s edition of the NASA International Space Apps Challenge was named “Make Space!”. Space Apps, strive to eliminate barriers of access to space and science opportunities. It is for anyone and everyone! Participants from around the world are welcomed regardless of background and experience to create, explore, learn, and build together. Through each year’s Space Apps Challenge, NASA continues to support and empower ideas through innovation and inclusion.
Unique World Robotics as the name suggests has proven that they are the pioneers in the domain of Robotics, AI and coding training and has a clear edge in Competition training domain. The well-trained students and their mentors from UWR always have made the country proud in all International Competitions in the year 2022.
Speaking of the occasion, Bansan Thomas George, Founder and CEO of Unique World Robotics, stated “We are extremely proud that our team ‘Unique World Robotics’ has proven our sheer dominance in International Competition/Hackathon Training. I would like to extend my gratitude to our subject matter experts, local leads, school authorities, parents and many more, we are very excited for the Executive Judging as well”.
Robotics Market Trends is growing in demand. In recent days, the industry has seen huge investments from the end-users and governments on the market.
The global robotics technology market size was valued at $62.75 billion in 2019, and is projected to reach a staggering $189.36 billion by 2027, growing at a CAGR of 13.5 percent from 2020 to 2027. The rise in need for automation and safety in organizations and availability of affordable, energy-efficient robots drive the growth of the global robotics market.
The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is implementing its Space Apps project in 313 cities around the world. In addition to engaging 10 million students across the globe through social media, the Nasa Space Apps Challenge is planning to engage 200,000 students directly in the competition.
A total of 140 teams participated in the ‘NASA Space Apps Challenge 2022’, from the United Arab Emirates, and out of 6 Location winners (National Champions & Global Nominees) from the UAE, 4 teams are from Unique World Robotics (UWR). The Youngest team to win in this level was also from UWR – Year 7 (10–11-year-old students).
The results for the executive judging (finals) are expected to be announced soon.
