Explore Eric Carle’s Storyland at British Orchard Nursery Summer Camp
June 8th, 2017; Dubai, UAE: Acclaimed and beloved as the creator of brilliantly illustrated and innovatively designed picture books for young children, Eric Carle will come alive at the British Orchard Nursery Summer Camp as children get to explore and engage in his beautiful storyland. Scheduled to start from June 25th and running for 11 weeks until 7th September, this fun, educative and engaging summer camp, will introduce young children to various life concepts, values and skills through Carle’s popular stories.
“We thought of doing something special this time and so the team came up with this brilliant idea, it’s our small tribute to the great author on his 88th birthday that falls on the first day of the summer camp. We are sure children are going to enjoy learning the life concepts through so many stimulating activities” said Ms Vandana Gandhi, Founder and CEO of British Orchard Nursery.
The concepts will be introduced using all seven areas of learning which include communication and language, literacy, mathematical development, physical development, understanding of the world, personal-social-emotional development and expressive arts and designs. Role playing using props from the stories, recalling and narrating the stories – with a different ending using their imagination, music and movement based on the stories and their characters, nature walks with props will all be part of the fun learning way.
The camp begins with Carle’s celebrated classic; ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’, this all-time favourite not only follows the very hungry caterpillar as it grows from egg to cocoon to beautiful butterfly, but also teaches the days of the week, counting, good nutrition and more. Striking pictures and cleverly die-cut pages offer interactive fun. Children learn about important life concept of growth and lifecycle of a butterfly, counting, memory skills with sequencing and much more.
Every week, through a different story children will get to learn important skills and concepts that include time concepts, life cycles, seasons, marine life and their distinct characteristics, animals in the zoo, colours, animal camouflages, social behavior, good manners, careful listening and observations, focused attention, following instructions, role playing, gymnastics amongst many others.
The last and the final week will explore Carle’s ‘Rooster’s Off to See the World’, a great way to end the summer camp –the Rooster and his colorful friends that join him on his journey to see the world, provide an enjoyable understanding of number sets, simple addition and subtraction.
